Terms of Use
Last updated: January 15, 2026
These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern your use of YouTube Transcriber (the “Service”), operated by us (“we”, “us”, “our”). By creating an account, calling the API with an API key, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
YouTube Transcriber lets you fetch plain-text transcripts of public YouTube videos via a web interface and a REST API. Free use is available without an account; signed-in users receive a credit allowance and may subscribe to a paid plan. We may add, modify, or remove features at our discretion. If a change materially reduces the value of an active paid plan, we will offer a pro-rated credit or refund.
2. Eligibility and account
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into these Terms. You are responsible for the security of your credentials and API keys, and for all activity that occurs through them. Shared accounts and key sharing across organizations are not permitted.
3. Your content and licenses
You submit YouTube URLs or video IDs to the Service. We retrieve the publicly available caption track for the requested video and return it to you as plain text or JSON. You retain whatever rights you have in your requests and the output you store on your side. You grant us a limited, worldwide, royalty-free license to process your requests and cache transcript responses solely to operate and improve the Service.
Transcripts are derived from third-party content uploaded to YouTube. The Service makes no claim of ownership over that content, and you are responsible for ensuring your use of any transcript complies with the underlying creator's rights and applicable copyright law.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Circumvent or attempt to circumvent rate limits, credit accounting, or other technical controls of the Service.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code or models behind the Service.
- Use the Service in a manner that violates YouTube's Terms of Service, applicable copyright law, or any other applicable law.
- Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm any person, or to build derivative datasets for resale.
- Resell or sublicense the Service or your API key without our prior written consent.
5. YouTube and Google compliance
The Service retrieves caption tracks that are publicly accessible on YouTube. We do not connect to your YouTube or Google account, and we do not request OAuth permissions from you on behalf of Google or YouTube. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube, LLC or Google LLC, and “YouTube” is a trademark of Google LLC. YouTube may at any time change, restrict, or block public access to caption data, which may affect the Service.
6. Subscriptions, billing, and refunds
Paid plans renew automatically on the cadence shown at checkout. You may cancel from your dashboard at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current cycle. We charge the payment method on file in advance for each cycle. Unless required by applicable law, charges are non-refundable. You are responsible for any taxes that apply in your jurisdiction. We will give at least 30 days' notice before a price change applies to your plan.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms, fail to pay a charge, use the Service in a way that creates legal or reputational risk for us, or if a third-party platform (including YouTube) revokes the ability to deliver the Service. You may close your account at any time from your dashboard; we will delete personal data as described in our Privacy Policy.
8. Intellectual property
The Service, including the software, models, dashboards, documentation, and the “YouTube Transcriber” name and logo, is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Feedback you send us is non-confidential, and we may use it without restriction.
9. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that transcripts will be complete, accurate, or available for every video, since they depend on the caption tracks YouTube exposes.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither party will be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits or revenues. Our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is capped at the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in this section limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
11. Indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against any third-party claim arising from your misuse of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right, including copyright, in connection with content you process through the Service.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction in which we are established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The parties will attempt to resolve any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms in good faith before bringing a claim. Nothing in this section deprives you of any non-waivable consumer protections under the law of your country of residence.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before it takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
